Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone has explained what makes Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman different from other attacking players in his squad following the team’s latest outing. The Argentine coach praised Lookman’s versatility, noting that his ability to operate across multiple attacking roles gives the team more tactical flexibility.
Speaking after the game, Simeone said Lookman’s qualities allow Atlético Madrid to deploy him in various positions depending on the situation. The Argentina-born tactician explained that the understanding between the player and the team is improving gradually, adding that Lookman made a strong contribution on the pitch. According to Simeone, the team felt the winger’s impact during the match, and the Nigerian international also appeared confident and comfortable in his role as the game progressed.
Despite his impressive performance, Lookman was substituted in the 79th minute, with Obed Vargas introduced to see out the remainder of the match. Simeone clarified that the decision was purely tactical and not a reflection of the winger’s display. He expressed optimism that continued work and trust will help Lookman grow further as a player while contributing to the team’s overall development.
