Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called for immediate de-escalation and maximum restraint in the Gulf region following coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran.
In a statement released on Sunday, ministry spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa expressed deep concern over the rising tensions and warned that further escalation could destabilize the wider Middle East.
The ministry emphasized that growing hostilities pose serious risks to global peace, economic stability, and international security, particularly in a region already facing complex political and security challenges.
The Federal Government urged all parties involved to prioritize dialogue over confrontation and to respect international law in addressing their grievances. According to the statement, Nigeria believes that military action could worsen humanitarian conditions and disrupt global energy markets, affecting vulnerable economies around the world.
