Former Lagos State gubernatorial candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has sparked a fresh conversation regarding the city's environmental management and the rhetoric used by political leaders.
Addressing the recurring criticisms regarding the hygiene and odor in parts of the metropolis, Rhodes-Vivour emphasized that leaders should focus on systemic solutions rather than dismissing complaints through tribal or regional sentiments.
Speaking during an interview on the Real Shareholders podcast, the Yoruba government candidate expressed his frustration with the current political discourse, stating, “Why are you angry with people when they say Lagos is smelling. You should figure out how to address it, not telling them to go back to their states. I’m from Lagos state, where do you want me to go?”
By framing the issue as a matter of administrative competence rather than a cultural clash, Rhodes-Vivour aims to refocus public attention on the necessity of a sustainable urban plan.
