Jami Oluwarotimi Schlueter has officially committed to representing Nigeria, switching his allegiance from Great Britain in November 2025. The multi-event athlete, born to a German father and a Nigerian mother, has already made a significant impact on the Nigerian track and field scene.

Just two weeks ago, he set a new national record in the heptathlon, amassing 5789 points to shatter Chukwuma Maduka's previous mark of 4859 set in 2018.

According to reports, the German-based star is currently competing in the men's heptathlon at the US Combined Events Championships in Indianapolis. After four events, Schlueter sits on 3273 points, with three events remaining. He opened with a solid 6.98 seconds in the 60 meters before unleashing a personal best of 7.39 meters in the long jump. He followed that up with a shot put throw of 14.40 meters and cleared 1.91 meters in the high jump.
