England international of Nigerian descent, Eberechi Eze, has opened up on how he handles nerves ahead of big moments, including the prospect of playing for Arsenal. The Crystal Palace midfielder admitted he feels nervous before matches, but believes the feeling is a positive force rather than a weakness.
According to the Arsenal Channel, Eze described his relationship with nerves as one built on understanding rather than fear. The creative midfielder said he views nervous energy as a signal that something important is about to happen. Rather than trying to block it out, he channels it into focus and motivation on the pitch. Eze added that wanting to do well for teammates and deliver in key moments fuels those emotions, stressing that such feelings are common among top players at the highest level of the game.
Eze further explained that this mental approach is what makes football special to him. He revealed that stepping onto the pitch with the thought that “this is the moment” is a feeling he truly enjoys. The former QPR star believes that these emotions define elite sports and separate high-level competition from ordinary games.
