Nigerian football legend Mikel Obi spoke against Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman’s clash during the AFCON match with Mozambique, calling for unity and discipline within the Super Eagles squad. The former national team captain reacted to the incident after it went viral on social media, drawing mixed reactions from fans and analysts.
Speaking on his podcast, One Obi TV, the Chelsea legend revealed that Victor Osimhen respects everyone on the team and described the striker as a passionate and emotional young player. However, he stressed that Osimhen must learn to control his anger toward teammates during tense moments. “Victor Osimhen is our main player, we need to respect him and honour his name for all he has done for the Super Eagles team,” Mikel stated. He added that leadership also comes with responsibility, and senior players must set the right example on and off the pitch.
Revealing who holds the highest power in the national team, Mikel made it clear that no individual is above the Super Eagles. “No one is bigger than the team, we come and go, so Victor Osimhen and his teammates must always remember that,” he stated.
