NFF Moves to Keep Eric Chelle Amid Marseille Interest

Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Gusau

The Nigeria Football Leader Federation (NFF) president, Ibrahim Gusau, plans to convince Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle to remain fully committed to the national team after the Malian tactician was listed as one of the favourites to replace the outgoing manager at the Olympique de Marseille.

According to the Super Eagles Media Team report, NFF president Ibrahim Gusau insisted that the Malian coach needs to stay with the national team until his contract ends. “We still have a one-year contract with Eric, so any interest from others will have to wait until his contract expires,” he stated.

Speaking further about any international team interest in Eric Chelle, Gusau stressed that the Super Eagles coach needs proper focus to help the national team achieve victories in all competitions. “We don’t want distractions because we know he enjoys working with Nigeria,” he added. The NFF president highlighted that Chelle’s commitment, professionalism, and understanding of the team’s ambitions are key reasons the federation wants him to see out his contract.
