Hakimi Responds as Court Orders Trial in France

Achraf Hakimi on Paris Jersey

Moroccan forward Achraf Hakimi has publicly responded after a French court ordered a trial in a case brought against him, with his legal team strongly disputing the allegations.

In a statement issued in Paris on February 24, 2026, his lawyer argued that the case rests solely on the complainant’s claims and lacks supporting evidence. The defense maintains that several investigative measures were allegedly refused, including medical examinations, DNA testing, and access to the complainant’s mobile phone, which they say limited the scope of the inquiry.

According to the 2025 African Best Player, the accusations are unfounded and he remains confident that the judicial process will clear his name. His lawyer further stated that two successive psychological assessments reportedly found inconsistencies in the complainant’s account and noted the absence of post-traumatic symptoms.

The statement also alleged that certain messages exchanged with a friend, which were not initially disclosed to authorities, suggested an intention to damage the player’s reputation. The defense insists these elements will be crucial when the matter proceeds to trial.

Hakimi later shared the official press release on his Instagram story, signaling his support for the statement issued on his behalf.
