Mikel Arteta has revealed that Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze was visibly upset with him during their recent encounter, admitting the midfielder felt he had a point to prove.
Speaking after the match, the Arsenal manager acknowledged that Eze's intensity on the pitch stemmed from personal frustration over his lack of minutes in previous games.
"You could see that Eze wanted to prove something," Arteta stated. "He was upset even with me, because I didn't play him the other day from the beginning... and some of the decisions that I made."
Arteta’s comments suggest a recognition of Eze’s quality and determination. The Spanish tactician hinted that this performance has provided valuable insight into how to utilize the player more effectively moving forward.
"I have started to understand how we're going to get the best out of him now," Arteta added.
The admission signals that Eze’s response to being benched may have shifted Arteta’s perspective, potentially leading to a more prominent role for the midfielder in future fixtures.
