Nigerian and Werder Bremen forward Victor Boniface has encountered a career-threatening knee injury that may require surgery while representing the German club. The Super Eagles striker, who is currently on loan at Werder Bremen from Bayer Leverkusen, has struggled with persistent knee problems that have limited his impact this season.

Medical assessments conducted by both clubs suggest that surgical intervention is the most viable option to address the issue, raising concerns about his immediate future in club and international football.

Werder Bremen confirmed that the 25-year-old is sidelined after failing to fully recover from the knee injury, which has affected his match fitness and performance. Reports indicate that Boniface has been unable to score in 11Werder appearances this season, a run attributed largely to his physical struggles rather than a lack of effort or quality.

German outlet Bild reported that both clubs agree surgery may be unavoidable if the striker is to return to peak condition. He would be ruled out for the remainder of the season, effectively ending his loan spell earlier than planned.
