Canada Deports 366 Nigerians as Immigration Enforcement Intensifies in 2025

Canada Deported Nigerian National Update

Canada has intensified its immigration enforcement efforts, leading to the deportation of 366 Nigerian nationals between January and October 2025, according to official records from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

The removals form part of a broader crackdown being carried out at the fastest pace in more than 10 years. Data from the CBSA’s removals programme further indicate that hundreds of Nigerians remain within the system, with many cases still under active review as authorities work through enforcement backlogs.

The statistics, last updated in late November 2025, show that Nigeria ranked ninth among the top ten countries whose citizens were deported from Canada during the period under review. In addition, about 974 Nigerians are currently listed as “removal in progress,” placing the country fifth among nationalities awaiting deportation.

A closer look at historical trends reveals fluctuations over the past few years. Canada removed 339 Nigerians in 2019, with the figure declining steadily through 2020, 2021, and 2022. Nigeria did not appear among the top ten deportation sources in 2023 and 2024 but returned to the list in 2025, recording a notable increase within just ten months.
