Nigerian Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has named Francis Uzoho as the team’s new first-choice goalkeeper following the current inactivity of Stanley Nwabali. The decision signals a fresh direction in goal as the national team prepares for upcoming international fixtures.

Uzoho, who plays for Omonia in Cyprus, is expected to take full responsibility between the posts. The 27-year-old goalkeeper brings experience from previous major tournaments and remains one of the most recognized Nigerian shot-stoppers in recent years.

According to reports, the coaching crew opted for Uzoho due to his availability and match fitness, while Nwabali is presently inactive at club level.

The former Deportivo La Coruña goalkeeper has earned multiple caps for Nigeria and previously served as first choice during key qualification matches.

Stanley Nwabali is reportedly set to open negotiations with South African club Kaizer Chiefs as interest grows over a potential move. Sources indicate that discussions could commence soon as the goalkeeper considers his next career step.
