Following the misconduct of the 2025 Afcon, The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, has postponed the upcoming African Cup of Nations from the host country Morocco to other African countries.
Speaking on Friday during a CAF Executive Committee meeting in Dar es Salaam, the South African billionaire businessman Patrice Motsepe announced that the tournament will proceed as scheduled from June 19 to July 18, 2027, and will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. He firmly dismissed rumors suggesting a possible postponement of the competition, emphasizing that CAF remains fully committed to its calendar.
CAF believes that awarding the hosting rights to Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will bring long-term benefits to football development in the region. The joint-hosting model is expected to improve regional collaboration, boost local economies, and promote unity across East Africa. CAF officials also highlighted that the 2027 tournament will focus on improved stadium facilities, better security, and enhanced fan experience.
