Atalanta delivered a commanding performance to defeat Borussia Dortmund 4-1 on the night of February 25, securing a 4-3 aggregate victory in their Champions League play-off tie. The Italian side's aggressive start paid dividends early, as Gianluca Scamacca opened the scoring in just the fifth minute, leveling the aggregate score and shifting momentum in favor of the home side.

The intensity continued into first-half stoppage time, with Davide Zappacosta finding the net to give Atalanta a crucial lead. Mario Pašalić extended the advantage further in the 57th minute, putting the Serie A outfit in a commanding position. Though Karim Adeyemi pulled one back for Dortmund in the 75th minute to briefly raise hopes of a comeback, any chance of a turnaround was extinguished deep into added time when Lazar Samardžić converted from the penalty spot in the 98th minute, sealing the emphatic victory.

The result confirms Atalanta’s place in the next round, having weathered a determined Dortmund side that pushed until the final whistle. With a display of resilience and clinical finishing, Atalanta proved their mettle on the European stage, advancing with a well-earned aggregate triumph.
