Cameroon football legend Samuel Eto’o has praised Senegalese star Sadio Mané and suggested he deserves a major reward after leading his national team to victory at the Africa Cup of Nations.

During an interview with France24 TV, the former Barcelona and Cameron player praised Sadio Mané’s impressive performances in guiding the Lions of Teranga from the semi-final stage to the final of the 2025 African Cup of Nations. Eto’o highlighted Mané’s tactical intelligence, work rate, and leadership during the match. “His role in leading his country’s team to victory was amazing, and that is what a true leader does. He created many chances during the match against the host nation, Morocco,” Eto’o stated.

Speaking on the upcoming African football awards, Samuel Eto’o suggested that the Saudi Pro League star deserves to win the African Footballer of the Year award. The four-time African Player of the Year winner said Mané’s recent performances speak for themselves. “I believe Mané should win the African Player of the Year because what he has done recently, especially against Egypt and Morocco, says it all,” Eto’o concluded.
