Nigerian international Frank Onyeka, who plays for Premier League club Brentford FC, has expressed the deep disappointment felt by the Super Eagles squad after failing to qualify for the next FIFA World Cup following their loss to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The critical match took place at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.

According to Nigerian journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, who met Onyeka at Casablanca airport, the midfielder acknowledged the nation's profound sadness. "We, the players, are hurting, just as much as Nigerians are hurting," Onyeka reportedly said. "Nigerians have every right to be very upset with us. It is very tough not to go to the next FIFA World Cup."

The Brentford star recognized the five-year wait until the 2030 tournament would be painful. However, he highlighted the upcoming AFCON (Africa Cup of Nations) tournament, which is scheduled to begin in just 34 days. Onyeka stated the team must immediately focus on this challenge: "But we have an AFCON to play in 34 days and we need to get ready for that and do better than we did last time," he concluded.
