Shaibu's Pledge: Nigerian Army to Leave No Stone Unturned in Northeast Fight

During a recent operational visit to Borno state, the epicenter of a long-running insurgency, Nigeria's new Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, formally announced the military's forthcoming strategic plans. This decisive move comes with a clear objective: to directly confront and eliminate the extremist violence and the tragic killings of Christians in the nation's north. The visit followed a direct directive from President Bola Tinubu to reinvigorate the country's counterterrorism efforts, signaling a top-down commitment to securing the region.

In his address to the troops, General Shaibu delivered a powerful and resolute message. He firmly declared, “The Nigerian Army under my command will leave no stone unturned.” He further revealed the army's renewed resolve, stating, “We will pursue this fight with renewed energy, clear focus, and absolute dedication to end this menace once and for all.” To ensure operational success, he also pledged substantial improvements in logistics, soldier welfare, and combat support. He promised to be crucial to maintain pressure on militant groups such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
