Super Eagles Captain William Troost-Ekong has declared the squad is driven by an unyielding desire to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, calling the final playoff against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) a "high-pressure moment."

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s decisive match, the central defender acknowledged the DRC as a "good playing side" that presents a "different challenge" to navigate. However, he stressed the team’s collective hunger serves as the only necessary motivation.

We all want to go to the World Cup,” Troost-Ekong stated, noting the team’s growth under consistent pressure. “We’re not trying to prove anything to anyone, we want to prove it to ourselves.”

Crucially, Troost-Ekong confirmed CAF cleared midfielder Wilfred Ndidi to play despite initial suspension rumors, calling his eligibility a "massive boost." The Captain's message is direct: the team is fully focused on securing victory and delivering a clear, unified statement of intent in the final match.
