Gabon's Lemina Praises Rival Osimhen, Shows World-Class Sportsmanship

Following Nigeria's crucial 4-1 victory over Gabon in the World Cup qualifying play-off at the Rabat Morocco stadium, Gabonese midfielder Mario René Junior Lemina shared a post on his Instagram story congratulating Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen.


Lemina acknowledged the competitive nature of football while maintaining respect for his colleague, stating: “BUSINESS IS BUSINESS MY BROTHER. CONGRATS! ONE OF YOU OR ME WOULD BE SAD AFTER THE GAME AND IT'S ME THIS TIME. ALL RESPECT AND LOVE MY BRO.” He concluded his message of support to Osimhen, saying, “I WILL WATCH AND SUPPORT YOU FROM THE STANDS.”


Born in Libreville, Gabon, on September 1, 1993, Mario René Junior Lemina is a professional footballer who currently plays as a central midfielder for Turkish Süper Lig club Galatasaray and the Gabon national team. Before joining Galatasaray on loan in 2019 (and a second spell in 2025), he had established a respected career, with notable spells at clubs like French sides Lorient and Marseille, Italian giants Juventus (where he won two Serie A titles), and English Premier League sides Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
