Lieutenant A.M. Yerima, who recently gained public attention after a confrontation with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, during an alleged land dispute in Abuja, has been identified as the son of former Army Spokesperson, General Mohammed Mumammed Yerima.
His father, General Mohammed Yerima, served as the Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR) and the Nigerian Army's official spokesperson. He held this position under the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. General Yerima held the rank of Brigadier General while serving as the DAPR and was later promoted to Major General before his retirement in 2023.
Following the bold face-off with Nyesom Wike, Lieutenant Yerima was praised by many for his steadfastness in challenging a powerful authority. Reports from the incident confirm that when Minister Wike arrived at the property, Lieutenant Yerima and the soldiers under his command stood firm, blocking his access and preventing him from entering the premises.
