During an interview with the morning show journalist Uchenna Ezenwa, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, opened up about the intense drive behind the nation's World Cup qualification campaign. Speaking with a palpable sense of urgency, Pinnick, who also serves as the Deputy Chairperson of the FIFA Men's National Teams Competition Committee, assured that the NFF is leaving no stone unturned in its quest to secure a spot in global football's premier tournament.
“While the National Sports Commission (NSC) cannot perform magic, we are giving it our all,” Pinnick stated. He emphasized a total commitment from all parties involved, declaring, “Whatever it takes to ensure our qualification, we will gladly do.” The NFF President provided a deeply personal insight into the motivation fueling this determination, revealing that one of the lowest points of his life was Nigeria's previous failure to qualify for the World Cup. This memory, he suggested, serves as a powerful catalyst for the current administration.
Pinnick confirmed that there is a unified front in the pursuit of this goal. He noted that he is in constant touch with the Super Eagles players and that there is a shared ambition across the board. “All of them, along with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), want to be at the World Cup,” he affirmed. This collective desire underscores a national effort to avoid the heartbreak of the past and to restore Nigeria to its rightful place on the world's biggest sporting stage.
